Decorative Room Divider Buyers Guide

Breaking up open spaces for various reasons in a home, can be executed in a very tasteful manner with the implementation of decorative room dividers. In the past these panels were seen on film and television, and more often than not it was the oriental style. They were very popular from the 1950s through the 1980s, and will still today be the most sold style out of all the categories available. These dividers are used for many reasons, and the most frequent is for loft style apartments that have few if any interior walls to break up the living space. The use of these panels will help define each living area, and offer a modicum of privacy for the sleeping quarters.

Do not fret about selection for whatever your decorative theme may be as you can select from Victorian, South Pacific, SOHO, and a variety of dividers that have thematic panels from old antique advertisements, to replicated movie posters embossed on them. There are even companies that will apply any graphic image that you have on your computer right to the surface of the panels. This would be a great opportunity to make a custom room divider with photos from your travels from all over the world, or family photos over the past five or six generations.

There are also photo frame styled partitions that offer in some cases room for up to three dozen eight by twelve photos on both sides. These make wonderful fiftieth or seventy fifty wedding anniversary gifts, as you can display your grandparents or parents married life from beginning to now in a timeline fashion that they will love to just sit and recount their lives while cuddling on the couch. The prices will vary from a couple of hundred dollars on up to seven hundred, and this strictly depends on if glass or Plexiglas is used, and the type of materials the panels are constructed with too.

There are versions that appear to be bookshelves but pass through to the other side. This allows for a great deal of storage, and open shelving to display delicate collectibles, or memorabilia from your life’s past activities. Some will include closed in cabinetry to allow for items that you want kept out of the way, but still have easy enough access in a moments notice. Your chances of finding just the right panel will be more likely online as it is impossible for a local furniture store to carry more than say a half dozen different offerings at any one time.
